The history of Steeger begins with the founding of Wilhelm Körting at Wuppertal-Barmen in Germany in 1872, which manufactured braiders, accessory machines and single-yarn bobbin-lace machines.

In 1931, the company joined with William Steeger to form Körting GmbH.

After Karl Körting Retired in 1935, the company continued as a family business under the current name Körting Nachfolger Wilhelm Steeger run by husband and wife William and Emmy Steeger (nee Leyer).

After William Steeger died in 1976, his daughter, Ingeborg Lange (nee Steeger) took over the management of the company together with her husband Hans Adolf Lange.

Ingeborg and Hans-Adolf Lange continued to run the company as managing partners until the end of 2001.

Managing partners Hans Joachim Ludwig and Klaus Michael Menser and Bernd Rehrmann, procurator and partner, have been running the company since January 2002.

The company currently employs 25 staff and has an annual turnover of approx. 3.5 million euro produced from the manufacture of braiders and accessory machines.
The company's high level of customer orientation and flexibility is backed up by more than 130 years experience in the building and development of braiders for all braiding applications.
